Quick answer
SamCart is our top pick for most people. SamCart is a real, established hosted checkout that has grown into a digital business platform, with AI that drafts pages, copy and products, a courses app and abandoned-cart recovery in the base plan. It is worth it if you are ready to pay for the Pro plan to get order bumps, one-click upsells, A/B tests and Subscription Saver on an offer whose margin depends on them. You will regret it if you buy Core expecting those tools, or if all you need is a cheap cart in front of pages you already have.

It is at its best for digital product sellers who need order bumps and upsells. That is the lens the rest of this review uses: not whether it is the biggest tool on the market, but whether it is the right one for that operator.
You keep seeing SamCart in other sellers' checkouts, the plan card looks simple, and the question is whether it earns its monthly bill or turns into one more subscription you cancel in a quarter. The company is real: its homepage says more than 75,000 businesses use it, and its help center spells out billing and cancellation step by step.
Whether it pays for itself comes down to one line on the plan card. Core sells your product on a hosted page. Order bumps, one-click upsells, A/B tests and Subscription Saver all live on Pro. If your funnel makes its margin after the first sale, price SamCart at the Pro rate from day one. See the SamCart plans side by side before you start the trial.
SamCart calls itself a digital business platform. In practice it hosts checkout pages, sales pages and a courses app, recovers abandoned carts, and adds an AI assistant that drafts pages, copy and digital products. Checkout Anywhere embeds the same checkout on your own site or a link-in-bio page, so a team that already builds its pages elsewhere can keep them.
Two jobs stay outside. Email marketing is not bundled, so your list lives in a separate tool. Ad attribution sits outside too: SamCart reports orders, and a tracker such as RedTrack ties each order back to the campaign that paid for it.
Core is enough when you sell one product at one price, send traffic from content or an email list, and want a checkout live this week. Unlimited pages, products and checkouts, cart abandonment and the integration engine all come with it.
Pro becomes the plan to budget for once your numbers only work with the bump and the upsell added. The tools that lift order value (the extra item on the checkout, the one-click offer after it, the split test that decides which version wins) are Pro features. Subscription offers have a second reason to upgrade, because Subscription Saver, SamCart's recovery tool for failed rebills, is on Pro as well.
If the gap between the two plans is what bothers you, the SamCart vs ThriveCart comparison shows how its closest rival prices the same upsell tools.
You can cancel inside the app. Closing the account stops payment plans that SamCart manages, but subscriptions running through Stripe keep billing your customers until you or they cancel them in Stripe. If you are leaving, cancel or move those subscriptions in Stripe yourself.
Older accounts carry a second risk. SamCart's help center says that cancelling a legacy Launch, Grow, Scale or Core Legacy plan is permanent and the old pricing cannot be reinstated, so coming back later means paying the current rates.
A WooCommerce store that wants upsells inside WordPress is better served by CartFlows. Sellers who want funnel pages and checkout in one builder tend to compare SamCart with ClickFunnels. Subscription offers spread across several merchant accounts outgrow a hosted cart, which is where Checkout Champ and Konnektive come in. The SamCart alternatives page sorts them by the reason you are leaving.

“Samcart are no frills but fine and do the job reliably”
The cost is the recurring complaint. A low-ticket ebook seller found the platform cost high against sales, and a seller looking at order upgrades called the pro-rata billing very expensive.
Buyers comparing it with Kajabi point out that SamCart does not bundle email marketing, so a separate email tool goes on the bill.
“don't include email marketing”

“quite high”
“Sam Cart just introduced order upgrades with pro rata billing but it's crazy expensive”
“don't include email marketing”
The voices on Reddit split along the plan line. In an r/digital_marketing thread about ThriveCart alternatives, one seller describes SamCart as "no frills but fine" and says it does "the job reliably". In the same thread another poster calls the new order upgrades with pro-rata billing "crazy expensive".
A creator who posted three months of results from selling an ebook on r/passive_income put the platform cost at "quite high" against those sales, and an r/squarespace thread comparing it with Kajabi points out that SamCart leaves email marketing to another tool. These are individual reports, so use them as the questions to answer during your own trial.
SamCart offers two self-serve plans, plus a custom done-for-you tier sold on a call. What separates the two self-serve plans is which revenue tools each one unlocks.
| Item | Core | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $79 | $199 |
| Bumps and upsells | No | Yes |
| A/B testing | No | Yes |
| Subscription Saver | No | Yes |
| Affiliate Center | No | Yes |
| AI assistant | Limited | Unlimited |
| Team seats | 1 | 10 |
| Sales tax collection | 0.50% | 0.35% |
| SamPay card rate | 2.9% + 30¢ | 2.9% + 30¢ |
Two costs sit outside the table. Dedicated live support is an add-on of $19 a month on either plan, and the done-for-you tier is quoted on a call. Every self-serve plan starts with a 7-day trial.

We do not run paid campaigns through SamCart. We read its own documentation and pricing, verify every number against the vendor, and weigh the long-term reports of operators who run it at real spend. The full rubric is on the methodology page.
